Candidate List updated

On the 25th of June 2020, 4 substances have been added to the Candidate List for authorisation which now contains 209 substances.

As a reminder, the use of these “substances of very high concern” (SVHC) is not forbidden. They may continue to be placed on the market but are subject to communication duties by suppliers in accordance with Articles 31, 32 and 33 REACH.

Manufacturers and importers of articles that contain one of the substances must notify ECHA pursuant to Article 7(2) REACH. The deadline for notifying the newly added substance is the 25th of December 2020.

ECHA also reminds that from January 2021, companies will also have to notify products containing SVHCs in the SCIP database on substances of concern in articles and products. This database aims to ensure transparent information on articles containing hazardous chemicals throughout their whole lifecycle.
