Event - Detail

  • Conference "REACH&CLP for Laboratories"

The REACH&CLP Helpdesk Luxembourg invites laboratory managers, laboratory researchers or technicians of public institutes and companies, to an information session (in German) on the 27th of June 2017, from 2.00 to 5.00 pm at the Administration Building at Belval.

Laboratories provide a working environment with activities involving various chemicals, being hazardous or with unknown inherent properties, and a high degree of manual handling on a daily basis. The event will provide a general introduction into the two European chemicals legislation REACH and CLP and how they impact laboratory workplaces. An overview of hazardous properties inherent to chemicals, in particular health hazards but also the physical-chemical hazards that laboratory workers are exposed to will be presented, and how these are communicated through safety data Sheets (SDS) and labels. In a round table discussion with a cup of coffee, illustrative examples of SDS and labels and how these are used in relation to workplace safety, useful practical approaches including simplified labelling, answers to your questions such as how to deal with poorly characterised chemicals and which type of personal protective equipment to wear, will be a topic. In this relaxing atmosphere the SuperDreckskescht will share practical experiences in storage of chemicals and waste disposal.
