Event - Detail

  • Lunch meeting “Use of Biocidal products (treated articles)”

In cooperation with the Chambre des Métiers and its EEN (Enterprise Europe Network), the REACH&CLP Helpdesk and the Environmental Administration (AEV) offer a seminar on the use of biocidal products (e.g. insecticides, fungicides, disinfectants, etc.) with a focus on treated articles (e.g. treated wood, paints, etc.).

Companies who put on the market or use biocidal products and articles treated with biocidal products and want to acquaint themselves with the regulatory obligations, the labelling and safe use of such products are particularly invited to attend. The seminar is offered in German and takes place at the Chambre des Métiers (LU-Kirchberg) as a so called Lunch Meeting (a small snack is offered) at 15 May 2017, 12-14 h.

Context

Many companies put on the market or use biocidal products in the form of mixtures (e.g. insecticides, disinfectants...) or treated articles (e.g. treated wood, paints...). Any biocidal product with a marketing authorisation is required to be labelled so that the user is fully aware of the risk (for human and animal health and the environment) and the required measures for a safe use of these products. The Biocidal Product Regulation requires that articles can only be treated with biocidal products containing active substances approved in the EU. This is a change to the previous regime where articles imported from third countries could be treated with substances not approved in the EU – such as, sofas and shoes containing dimethylfumarate (DMF). This lunch meeting will inform the participants specifically about the requirements of treated articles used in Europe.
