Eight chemicals were added to the Candidate list. The Candidate List of substances of very high concern now contains 219 chemicals that may harm people or the environment.

As a reminder, the use of these “substances of very high concern” (SVHC) is not forbidden. They may continue to be placed on the market but are subject to communication duties by suppliers in accordance with Articles 31, 32 and 33 REACH.

Manufacturers and importers of articles that contain one of the substances must notify ECHA pursuant to Article 7(2) REACH. The deadline for notifying the newly added substances is the 8^th of January 2021.
