Emwelt.lu webpage on obligations related to mercury updated

The <link https: environnement.public.lu fr emweltprozeduren autorisations substances-produits mercure.html _blank>webpage on obligations related to Mercury available on emwelt.lu has been updated.

The new information added on the webpage concern the reporting and data requirements for manufacturers and traders introduced by the <link https: eur-lex.europa.eu legal-content en txt pdf _blank>Regulation (EU) 2017/852 on mercury.

This requirements concern:

  • the economic operators producing or placing on the market a new mercury-added product, or using a new manufacturing process (Article 8.3);
  • the economic operators operating in industrial sectors such as the chlor-alkali industry, natural gas purification and non-ferrous metal mining and smelting operations (Article 12);
  • the operators on sites responsible of the temporary storage of mercury waste and the operators on sites responsible of the conversion, including the solidification of the mercury waste (Article 14.4).
