Proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to asbestos at work
End of September, the European Commission has published a proposal for a directive on the protection of the workers from the risk related to exposure to asbestos at work.
This proposal is linked to one of the objectives of the European Union to promote well-being and sustainable development, based on a highly competitive social market economy, aiming at full employment and social progress.
A public consultation on this project has just been opened and comments are expected until 1st December 2022.
In parallel, the European Commission has also published a “Communication on working towards an asbestos-free future: a European approach to addressing the health risks of asbestos”.
