ECHA, EFSA and EMA to develop harmonised guidance on biomarkers of effect

ECHA, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), will develop a harmonised guidance on the use of Biomarkers of Effect (BoEs) as part of the assessment of health hazards and risks related to the use of chemicals and mixtures.

Coordinated by EFSA, this cross-sectoral guidance will be planned, drafted and produced by April 2029. This effort supports the goals of “One Substance, One Assessment” ensuring that scientific rigor is applied consistently across the European Agencies.
