The REACH&CLP Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Fédération des Artisans (FDA), organises an online information session on the European restriction on substances in tattoo inks on the 6th December 2021 from 14:00 to 15:15.
From January 2022, the European restriction on substances in tattoo inks and permanent make-up will enter into force. The aim of this restriction is to limit the use of around 4000 substances. It covers, for example, chemicals that cause cancer or genetic mutations and chemicals that are toxic to reproduction as well as skin sensitisers and irritants. The aim is not to ban tattooing but to make the colours used in tattoos and permanent make-up safer.
Given the popularity of tattoos among European citizens (at least 12 % of Europeans have them) and the raising concern of tattoo artists about this new restriction, the REACH&CLP Helpdesk will explain the restriction process under REACH and clarify specifically the restriction on substances in tattoo inks. The aim is to make it easier on tattoo artists to understand what comes and impact of this restriction on their activity.
On open questions and answers session will allow professionals to raise their concerns directly to the REACH&CLP Helpdesk.
No registration is needed. The link to access to this session is available under request.
