The candidate list of substances of very high concern (SVHC) now contains 240 entries for chemicals that can harm people or the environment.

One of the added chemicals is toxic for reproduction, three are very persistent and very bioaccumaltive and one is toxic for reproduction and persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic.

Importers and producers of articles containing chemicals on the Candidate list must notify ECHA within six months from the date it has been included in the list (23 January 2024).

Suppliers of substances from the Candidate list must update the safety data sheets they provide to their customers.
