EU initiative on health and safety at work

The European Commission has just launched a public consultation related to worker protection from exposure to chemicals (lead and diisocyanates).

This initiative will update the EU Directive 98/24/EC (Directive CAD) protecting workers from risks related to exposure to chemical agents. The update aims to improve workers’ health and safety by setting or revising binding limit values for lead and diisocyanates.

The call for evidence is opened until 21 March 2022.

As reminder, on 24 February 2022 a restriction under REACH concerning diisocyanates entered into force. Thus, from this date, diisocynates shall not be placed on the market as substances on their own, as a constituent in other substances or in mixtures for industrial and professional use(s).
