New directive on worker protection published

In beginning of June, a new directive (Directive (EU) 2019/983) on the protection of the workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens and mutagens at work has been published.

The major modification concerns the Annex III on the limit values for occupational exposure which has been extended with five new substances and limit values:

  • Cadmium and its inorganic compounds
  • Beryllium and inorganic beryllium compounds
  • Arsenic acid and its salts, as well as inorganic arsenic compounds
  • Formaldehyde
  • 4,4′-Methylene-bis (2-chloroaniline)

 

This new directive adds new subparagraph to the article 18a which is related to the evaluation of the implementation of the directive.
