Directive to strengthen chemical safety by reattributing tasks to ECHA
The EU adopted Directive (EU) 2025/2456, a measure to improve how scientific and technical work on chemicals is handled within the EU. This change is part of the broader “one substance, one assessment” (OSOA).
The directive’s core objective is to reassign key scientific and technical tasks under the RoHS rules - including evaluations of exemptions and restrictions on hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment - to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
